<HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Declaration of Independence</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <H1>Declaration of Independence</H1> <H2>Declaration of Independence</H2> <H3>Declaration of Independence</H3> <H4>Declaration of Independence</H4> <H5>Declaration of Independence</H5> <H6>Declaration of Independence</H6> <P>And this is a paragraph, for comparison! <form> <input type=button value="Close Window" onClick="javascript:window.close();"> </form> </BODY> </HTML>
Note that the main difference is that Header 1 is displayed as the "most important" header. By default, the display for each Header element is defined by the browser. But, you can always override the display by specifying font and color information in the HTML file, or in Cascading Style Sheets (topics for much later down the road...)
Also note that there are tools available that allow you to build Tables of Contents...obviously such tools will be rendered virtually useless if you don't impose hierarchy when you create your headings!
