Classifying Text
There
are two main categories of HTML elements for classifying text:
- Literal text elements, which include HTML elements that are interpreted
literally by the browser. This includes bolding and italicizing text, making
it big or small, creating a tele typeface (monospaced text), underlining text,
and striking through text.
- Structural text elements, which include HTML elements that are classified
according to content type rather than display characteristics. (We'll hold
the description for this until the page that covers the topic.)
